
Umami is one of the five basic tastes ( with sweet, sour, bitter and salt). Seaweed is naturally high in umami and when it is added to other umami foods the rich savoury taste impact is greater. We have added tomato, mushroom, onion, garlic, salt and pepper to stimulate the taste buds whilst also adding goodness.
- 4 Steaks
- 2/3 teaspoons of Seaspoon Umami mix
- Salt, pepper, olive oil
Sprinkle ingredients over steak and marinate before cooking. Leave at room temperature for an hour before frying the steak. Heat oil and fry steaks for . Leave meat to rest for 5 mins before slicing and serving.
Side dishes
- Potato/ sweet potato Wedges with Seaweed Boost 6 Potatoes
Cut potato into wedges and put in an oiled roasting tin and cook in oven at 180c for half an hour. Sprinkle half a teaspoon of Seaspoon Seaweed boost on top and cook for further 10 mins.
- Baked Mushrooms with Seaweed Herb mix 4 Large mushrooms
Put whole portobello mushrooms in oven dish with drizzle of olive oil and small knob of butter in the mushrooms . Roast for 15mins in oven with foil on top, until nearly soft and cooked . Sprinkle Seaspoon Seaweed herb mix on top of each mushroom and cook for further 5/10 mins.
- Beetroot Salad with Seaweed Boost Fresh 2 Beetroots
Peel beetroot and cut into little match sticks , marinate in French dressing with teaspoon of Seaspoon Seaweed herb mix , serve once softened a bit .
