Our top vegan seaweed recipes for Veganuary

For Veganuary, we've brought together some of our very favourite vegan seaweed recipes all created by our culinary captain, Kate.

Seaweed is a valuable food for those on a dairy-free or dairy-limited diet, as a plant-based source of the iodine that your body requires.

Iodine helps make thyroid hormones, which help keep cells and the metabolic rate (the speed at which chemical reactions take place in the body) healthy. The provenance of our seaweed sets us aside from supplements and pills, as it is traceable, local and 100% natural. Detox is a January buzzword, but we love this soup so much that we're confident it'll become an all-year-rounder in your culinary repertoire. Kale is a mighty superfood and, when paired with Seaweed, you're onto a winner. Gluten free.

2. Date and seaweed truffles 

Dates are positively a super-ingredient with easily digestible vitamins and minerals. They're also a great energy booster, so share a platter of these little balls of energy around to revive your spark after a lazy weekend snooze on the sofa.

3. Red Breakfast Smoothie - berries and seaweed

It's the most important meal of the day - apply a bit of thought to your breakfast and you can pack it full of nutrition without much ado. This recipe uses red berries that are overflowing with goodness and, paired with seaweed, you've got a smoothie that's boosted to the moon and back.

4. Mushroom and Seaweed Risotto

Mushroom risotto is a household favourite. Add some Seaspoon Herb Mix, and you've got a boosted version that benefits from extra vitamins and minerals.

5. Seaweed Sourdough Focaccia recipe by Herbs & Wild

Focaccia is a type of Italian flatbread, enriched with LOTS of good oil, making it decadent, moist and flavourful. We're tickled pink that Hannah, of Herbs & Wild, has created a stunning recipe using Seaspoon Seaweed (Boost or Herb Mix). Seaweed's natural saltiness makes it a perfect addition to focaccia.
