Sea Spaghetti (Himanthalia elongate)
Sea Spaghetti is a particularly striking edible seaweed which grows in long ribbon-like blades, of up to several meters in length. It's due to this remarkable appearance that the sea vegetable earned its name.
With a mild taste that is slightly nutty and slightly salty, with a chewy texture it is an important player in our edible seaweed mixes.
As with the other seaweeds used in Seaspoon products (Dulse and Sea Lettuce) Sea Spaghetti is endowed with a broad range of minerals, is high in fibre and in particular boosts our mixes with calcium, potassium, magnesium and vitamin C.
Both potassium and magnesium are vital for maintaining a ship-shape and healthy nervous system, and whilst popeye was known for his spinach intake, if he'd known that Sea Spaghetti was also a good source of magnesium...maybe he'd have changed his food of choice!
