All hail the mighty pea, as this week, starting 6 July, is Great British Pea Week!
Here at Seaspoon we love these little green globes of goodness and their terrific taste when cooked with super-ingredient Seaweed.
Did you know that the UK's East Coast is the home of around 700 pea growers and farmers? The intense harvesting, from June to August, involves the majority being frozen as fast as possible to lock in the goodness. Our glorious pea farmers provide up to 2 billion portions of peas for the UK and around the world! (Great British Pea Week)
Peas contain pretty much every vitamin that your body needs AND they're significant in terms for fibre (Healthline). So, when cooked with super-ingredient Seaweed, you're onto a nutritional winner.
To celebrate the glorious British pea, here are some of our favourite recipes with Seaweed.
Risotto is a quick easy meal, you can use many different vegetables but we like the combination of peas and Edamame beans. The parmesan cheese gives a nice salty flavour at the end.
