It's our birthday! 12 months of seaweed seasoning

July is our birthday month, which makes it a first birthday for us salty seadogs!

It's been an incredible year - so we thought we'd pick the twelve highlights from the twelve months since we officially launched:

  1. Developing Seaweed Seasoning with award-winning chef Mitch Tonks. Harnessing the natural saltiness of seaweed, plus a few choice ingredients, we've created an alternative to the salt pot that you can sprinkle without guilt. Available on tables at Rockfish Exeter as well as to buy for your own table from our webshop. Read more >

  2. Accruing three Taste of the West 2019 Awards. Our best sellers Seaweed Seasoning and Seaweed Boost both claimed the top spot, Gold, with our rich Umami Blend taking a Commended. It goes without saying that adding these awards stickers to our packaging is one of the main highlights of our year Read more >

  3. Receiving a BBC Good Food Show Producers Bursary Award, exhibiting at the BBC Good Food Show Winter 2018. Read more >

  4. To have been shortlisted for the Great British Food Awards 2019 AND the Women's Health Food Awards 2019. In the Great British Food Awards, Seaweed Seasoning is in the Store Cupboard Category (judged by Rosie Birkett) and Seaweed Boost in the Health Boost category (judged by Pinch of Nom). Winners to be announced in the autumn (eek!)

  5. Having delicious Seaweed recipes devised by Herbs & Wild and Rebecca Cooks. The incredible Seaweed Foccacia takes us to baking heaven every time we cook it. The Tōgarashi fries with seaweed & siracha miso mayo uses Seaweed Umami Blend to make the ultimate seaweed chips!

  6. Launching with online supermarket Ocado, with Seaweed Seasoning to follow later this month. So, we're up there with the big guys and you can add Seaspoon to your regular Ocado shop.

  7. Securing our SALSA accreditation. SALSA is a robust and effective food safety certification scheme and means that we exceed the minimum standards expected by enforcement authorities. We're extremely proud to  have earned this kitemark of high standards. What it means to you is that you can trust us and our processes in getting seaweed from shore to door! Read more >

  8. Exhibiting at seven wonderful events including the Devon Show, Exeter Food Festival and two Free From Festivals. Find out where we're heading to next here >

  9. Being tagged on Instagram by Melissa Hemsley, twice! As well as amazing mentions from top nutritionists Catherine Jeans, the Gut Doctor and more. Find us on Instagram >

  10. Hosting our favourite magazine, Devon Life, on a harvesting trip in Devon. We can't wait to see it in print, we'll be sure to share it!

  11. Crafting a Seaweed Boost Gin on a Gin Making day the Adnams Distillery in Southwold.

  12. Concocting a brand new Seaspoon seaweed blend that we can guarantee will get your mouth this space shipmates!

It's certainly been keeping us busy. Thank you to everyone who's supported us on our journey so far.

Don't forget to keep your galley stocked with Seaspoon and we're looking forward to many more happy and exciting years onboard HMS Seaspoon!
